Steelhead, Bass, and Trout Fishing trips while floating the Lower Gorge of the Salmon River. The Door to Idaho prides itself on booking fishing trips in a special part of the world in Northern Idaho. We are currently developing the best trips to suit your needs. We offer fishing trips by Horse back into high mountain lakes in the Selway Bitterroots, Rafting through the Salmon River Gorge, Jet boating up the Snake River or the "River of No Return" (the Salmon River) or Dory floats down the Clearwater River. The fishing trips are customized to the size of your party and the type of trip desired.

-Cast and Blast-

  Jet boating up the Snake River or the "River of No Return" (the Salmon River) or Dory floats down the Clearwater River. Our Outfitters offer sportsmen Chukar Hunting and Steelhead, Bass, and Trout Fishing trips while floating the Lower Gorge of the Salmon River. Our Outfitters use dories designed for river fishing. Your days are spent drifting, fishing, and watching for coveys of chukars on the bank-side or you can tie-up and walk up the hillsides for these fascinating birds.

You are welcome to bring along your bird dogs. Remember your dogs need to be in good physical condition. Hunting terrain is very steep and rocky and your dogs need to have toughened feet. Our guides provide bird dogs if you choose not bring along your own. If the birds are near the river, then dogs are generally not needed.

Fly fishing on Idaho's Selway RiverThe Selway Bitterroots offer an outdoor adventure for the family/friends to getaway into the high country traveling by horseback. Fishing trips into high mountain lakes begin in July after the snow has melted off and end in early September. Our Outfitters provide experienced and friendly guides, wranglers, and cooks that make your trip a pleasure you'll never forget. Whether you are fishing or just exploring the beauty and grandeur of the Selway-Bitterroots you will feel free and refreshed in the back country.

The experienced guides will visit high mountain lakes. The cook dishes up western-style meals as your guide spins tales of the old west. See moonlit skies filled with countless stars. Steelhead fishing on the Clearwater River which is located in Idaho along Highway 12You will experience some of the best Steelhead fishing on the Clearwater River which is located in Idaho along Highway 12 the route of Lewis & Clark. The Snake River provides a wide opportunity to catch Steelhead from Heller's Bar to the Oregon border in Hell's Canyon. The Salmon River offers a chance to catch Steelhead in the Frank Church - River of No Return Wilderness. Some of the best Chinook Salmon fishing in the lower 48 states is found drifting the Clearwater River.

-Steelhead Fishing -
September through April

September starts the beginning of the catch and release season for Steelhead. October through April begins the catch and keep season along the scenic Clearwater River. Drift boats are used to enhance your fishing experience. The average steelhead weighs between 12 to 14 pounds, however, the Clearwater has an abundant supply of 20 pounds or more.

The adrenaline rush of catching a Steelhead causes you to lose yourself to the outside world and focus entirely on your fishing pole. The Outfitters and Guides are fully licensed and qualified to enhance your fishing experience.

- Steelhead Fishing -
October through February

Outfitters and Guides are fully licensed and qualified to enhance your fishing experience. The Snake River is recognized as one of the best rivers in North America to hook a Steelhead. This fall is gearing up to be another fantastic Steelhead season. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game predicts one of the largest Steelhead runs in 63 years is moving up the Snake River into Idaho.

These migratory fish are hatched in Idaho. They make their journey to the Pacific Ocean and return to Idaho after spending 1-3 years in the ocean. The Steelhead range from "A" salt fish in the 5-10 lb class, and "B" salt fish in the 7-14 lb class.

Our outfitters run day trips on the Snake River from Heller's Bar to the Idaho/Oregon border in custom jet boats. The Outfitters and Guides are fully licensed and qualified to enhance your fishing experience.

- Steelhead Fishing –

The Steelhead fishing expeditions on the wild and scenic Salmon River of No Return begin and end at Vinegar Creek boat ramp, 30 miles east of Riggins, Idaho. Combine fishing with magnificent beauty of the Salmon River Canyons. The Outfitters are flexible and can arrange for one or multiple day trips.

The average Chinook Salmon caught weigh between 20 - 30 pounds. The Clearwater River looks to be having another strong Chinook Salmon run for Springers.
