Outfitter has been family owned and operated for three generations. The
other Outfitter has been operating for five years and a guide for over

September or in late November when Elk are moving down to there
wintering grounds. These units are located in the Selway Bitterroot
Mountains and they offer a good chance for a trophy bull elk. The best
Archery hunts are conducted in early September. Rifle Elk hunts during
September and November in Unit 16A may include combination hunts for
deer, bear and mountain lion (cougar). In October, the Elk hunt is in
Unit 10 or 12 located in the Clearwater National Forest. Outfitters
limit the number of hunters in this famous hunting area in order to
manage the number of trophy bulls. Combination Elk, Deer, Bear, and
Cougar are available on all elk hunts with proper tags. The combination
hunts are scheduled to give you your best chances for success. These
Outfitters provide professional guides, wranglers, and cooks. The hunt
is a 7-day one guide per two hunters hunt pack-in. Hunts begin at our
base camp on the first day where you travel by horseback to remote
hunting camps in the heartland of prime Elk Country. The overnight
accommodations include wall tents for cooking and sleeping with
comfortable cots, lanterns, and woodstoves. The camp chef prepares mouth
watering home cooked meals for breakfast and dinner with lunches being
sent with you each day. The best dates fill up fast so, book early to

Spring Bear Hunts
Black Bear Hunts-An
adventurous 5 day spring bear hunt in the Selway Bitterroot region of
Idaho.
Archery ~ Muzzleloader ~ Pistol and/or
Rifle
The
Selway Bitterroot Wilderness of Idaho is home to substantial population
of black bear. Spring bear hunts are conducted on the Lochsa River from
May through June each spring. Camp is accessed by vehicle and baited
sites are established well before your arrival. Bear hunts are conducted
out of wall tents. Most hunters see at least one good mature bear from
their tree stand during their hunt. A high percentage of color-phased
bears are seen each spring including blonde, cinnamon, and chocolate
colored bear as well as the common black colored bear. The past years
have shown a high success rate on bear hunts in these units. Remember
hunter's you have the option of harvesting two bear.
Hunter’s have been allowed to purchase black bear tags at a reduced cost
of $31.50 per tag with the option to purchase a second bear tag. The
reason for the reduced tags is to help reduce the bear population and
with high expectations of increasing elk calf survival.
